Tecnica delle costruzioni

The course aims to provide students with a basic knowledge of structural design applied to reinforced concrete structures as established by the most up-to-date Italian and European codes for practical design. By applying and deepening the knowledge acquired in previous courses, with particular reference to the theory of elasticity and structural analysis courses, the students are introduced to the design of the main structural components of framed reinforced concrete systems.By the end of the course, it is expected the students are able to:- know the panorama of the standards and codes regulating the structural design in Italy; - know and apply the base principles of structural safety to the design of reinforced concrete structures;- evaluate the main actions and loads acting on the structures;- know and determinate the principal mechanical properties of materials to be adopted in the design of reinforced concrete structures;- analyse and design, according to the semi-probabilistic limit state method, the main structural components of framed reinforced concrete systems when subject to elementary states of stress ;- solve elementary problems related to the design of hydraulic structures;- in the framework of the topics covered in the course, develop the structural design according to the most up-to-date Italian and European codes for practical design.
